Meet Amanda Tennant

Welcome to 英語リンク (Eigo Link)! I am Amanda Tennant, an educator dedicated to helping students of all ages unlock the power of the English language. With a Bachelor of Arts in English and East Asian Studies from Oberlin College and specialized coursework from Waseda University in Tokyo, my teaching philosophy is rooted in a deep understanding of both Western literacy science and Japanese culture.

Throughout my career, I have supported over 200 students—from young children in the U.S. and Japan to adult English language learners—in mastering reading, writing, and phonemic awareness. My experience spans from working as a Reading Tutor for the AmeriCorps Schools of Hope Project to serving as a Cultural Ambassador and Assistant Teacher in Shimane Prefecture. Whether I am guiding a child through their first phonics lesson or helping an adult navigate advanced English concepts, I prioritize tailoring every session to the unique needs and goals of the individual. Having attained JLPT-N3 conversational Japanese proficiency, I am uniquely equipped to bridge the gap for Japanese learners, providing a supportive and effective environment for "linking" students to their full linguistic potential.

私は米国オバーリン大学で英語学と東アジア学を専攻し、卒業しました 。在学中には、早稲田大学の国際教養学部（SILS）での留学も経験しています 。アメリカのリテラシー（読み書き能力）教育の知見と、実体験に基づいた日本の文化・言語への深い理解を掛け合わせることが、私の指導の強みです。

これまで、アメリカと日本の両国で、200名以上の生徒たちに英語を教えてきました 。アメリカの公的プロジェクト「AmeriCorps」での読解指導や 、島根県での文化大使・副教材教員としての活動など 、その経験は多岐にわたります。

初めてフォニックスを学ぶお子様から、高度な英語をマスターしたい大人の方まで、常に一人ひとりのニーズと目標に合わせた「オーダーメイド」のレッスンを大切にしています 。私自身も日本語能力試験（JLPT）N3を取得しており、日常会話が可能です 。日本人学習者がつまずきやすいポイントを熟知しているからこそ、学習者の可能性を最大限に引き出す「リンク（架け橋）」になれると確信しています。
